The Wells Free School Governing Body
Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important strategic part to play in school improvement. The Governing Body’s core functions are to ensure high standards of achievement for all children by:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Attendance Record
Full governing body (FGB) meetings are held at least three times per year and more often when needed. More detailed discussions are held in sub-committees or working party groups. The two sub-committees are Teaching and Learning (T&L) and School Business Management (SBM), both of which meet at least three times per year.
