Welcome to Lister's class page.
Welcome to Term 4, ‘Fabulous Fables’.
This term Lister class will be looking at the fable, ‘The Boy who Cried Wolf’ from two different perspectives. We will complete our learning of fables in our class assembly on Thursday 6th March at 8:20am. We have a show for you, fables as you have never seen them before!
The rest of our Literacy learning this term will focus on traditional tales. We will begin by writing play scripts based on an alternative version of Little Red Riding Hood entitled ‘Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion’. Later on in the term we will be doing some persuasive writing and drama re-enacting Three Little Pigs. This drama will be set in the court room. Lister class will be unpicking language and delving for deeper meaning across all of our Literacy learning this term.
In addition to our Literacy learning, our spelling focusses will be based solely, on the Statutory word list for years 3 and 4. We will be exploring spelling patterns, rules and creating visual mnemonics to help us to remember how to spell some of these tricky exception words.
In Maths we will begin our term with Measurement, moving onto time and later onto Fractions. Particular focusses with fractions this term are Fractions of Number rather than shape. We will continue to develop our mastery understanding of these concepts and would encourage any help with these key learning areas at home, particularly time and money.
In our topic learning, we will be looking at Social History and Morality. We will be using the fable entitled ‘Magnus Carter’ by Julian Warrender, to look at the period in History with the introduction of the Magna Carter and learning how instrumental this was in our British History timeline. Furthermore, we will be exploring our rights as children and how this is presented on a worldwide scale.
Lister class this term will also be undertaking lots of scientific enquiries based on the learning topics of Light and Animals, including Humans. The children will be exploring their learning through diverse enquiries and they will also have the opportunity to plan and undertake their own enquiries.
