Year 4 - Cavell Class
Welcome to Cavell's class page.
This term in Cavell Class we will be continuing with the theme of ‘Going Green’. We are going to put our engineering skills to the test by trying to build our own solar powered motor vehicle. The children, in groups of three, will research, design, build and test their vehicles. Now we just need the sun to shine!
We will be continuing to write across a range of fiction and non-fiction genres including play scripts, biographies, instructions, poetry and narrative and some of this writing will be within the context of our topic work.
The children will be encouraged to read across a variety of genres and discuss what they are reading through written book reviews.
Our final Maths unit is around statistics: presenting and analysing data in different formats and within real life situations. The remainder of the term will be spent consolidating our learning from the number and place value, fractions and decimal units of work.
We will also be spending time developing our scientific skills of enquiry through the use of some ‘Big Questions’ that will challenge the children to design and implement their own science investigations.
