Vision for Art

Art is a vital part of children’s education, with a significant and valuable role in the taught curriculum and the enrichment opportunities we offer our pupils. The art curriculum develops children’s critical abilities, as well as an understanding of their own and others’ cultural heritages through the study of a diverse range of artists. Children develop their understanding of the visual language of art, with effective teaching and considered sequences of lessons and experiences, which will build year upon year, culminating in a confident and creative individual with a unique style and an attitude that allows them to be experimental with the skills and process knowledge they have been taught. As well as developing a love of working with art materials and techniques, we aim to nurture and encourage a love of the subject through their use of imagination, abstract thought, and generating original ideas in a relaxed and supportive environment.
